Every month, Utah State University’s Dining Services focuses on one of its seven core values and selects an hourly employee who exemplifies the month’s core value. For January, USU Dining Services highlighted Dedication. Dining Services believes in what it does and that it makes a difference in the experiences of everyone involved with the university. A motto used in dining services is “there is work to be done, not time to be put in.” It encourages employees to dedicate themselves to talents and employ a good work ethic every day.
Damon Wiltshire is the January Employee of the Month. An employee at The Bakery at USU, Wiltshire was first selected by his peers, then by The Bakery management and finally by Dining Services Executive Director Alan J. Andersen.
“Damon is a great example of dedication,” Andersen said. “He has stepped up and taken over the daytime shift with great confidence and dedication. He also covered for a fellow employee, Steve, so he had time with his family. He loves his job here and it shows.”
Wiltshire has worked in Dining Services for almost 3 years and as January Dining Services’ Employee of the Month, he received a plaque and a $50 Aggie Express Gift Card, presented by Andersen.
“Damon has stepped up big time, taking over a lot of responsibilities,” Andersen said. “It's a big job and he has done it without compromising on quality and consistency. He works tirelessly to make sure everything is top shelf.”
