Culture Though Pottery at the USU Museum of Anthropology

As the “Saturdays at the Museum” series continues at Utah State University, the Museum of Anthropology presents “Culture Through Pottery Styles Day.” Activities take place Saturday, July 19.

Guest will learn about the styles of pottery from Peru, the American Southwest and the Great Basin and how it reflects the cultures where it was created.

 

“Every culture has its own form of pottery,” said museum worker Ashley Smith. “People have expressed their cultural ideals and values through this art medium. One can see what was important to a culture though the art it produced.”

 

Visitors can create their own pottery designs on a take-home magnet pottery sherd. USU students and all members of the public are invited to the museum any time during its 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday hours.

 

The USU Museum of Anthropology is on the USU campus in the south turret of the historic Old Main building, room 252. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot, south of the building.
