Cool Runnings
USU student researchers are putting an environmentally friendly twist on the popular winter sport of snowmobiling. The engineering students crafted an electric snowmobile with zero on-site emissions and a quieter motor. The sled is a welcome solution to growing concern about air and noise pollution in winter recreational areas.
For more information contact USU engineering student researcher Nathan Hansen or engineering faculty mentor Byard Wood, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, College of Engineering, Utah State University, (435) 797-2868. The USU engineering team will compete in the seventh annual Clean Snowmobile Challenge sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers in Michigan over spring break (March 13-17).
