Concert Benefits College of Business Fundraising Event at USU

A concert organized by Team Success — students in Utah State University’s College of Business — will raise funds to benefit the college’s Micro-Loan account. Proceeds will be used to set up Micro-Loan accounts in small villages in Chile, Peru and possibly Brazil. Long-term supervision of the proceeds will be turned over to Hope Alliance.

The concert features Kalai and the Hand Band in performance Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in USU’s Kent Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center.

 

Advance tickets are available at the USU Ticket Office in the Smith Spectrum. Student tickets are $8 and $10 for the public. Tickets will be $12 at the door.

 

Students organizing the concert are enrolled in David Herrmann’s management and human resources 3110 class. Students in the course are responsible for all aspects of fundraising efforts for the Micro-Loan project. Micro-loan accounts make small amounts of money available to set up home-based businesses that allow recipients to improve their income levels. Often, these loans are no more than $50 to $100.

 

“We believe this project will make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most,” Herrmann said in a letter describing the class project.

 

Headliner for the USU concert is Kalai, a Hawaiian born, Alaska raised 26-year-old musician. According to his Web site, his music ranges from coast to coast with soft ballads, edgy blues, straight jazz, acid jazz and a little bit of his own thing.

 

Team Success member Tyler Stoker said he and the team are excited about the concert.

 

“It’s going to be a great night of entertainment and we hope to see everybody there,” he said.
