College of Natural Resources Honors Top Scholars

Utah State University’s College of Natural Resources recognized graduating seniors and scholarship recipients for the 2007-08 academic year at a banquet held April 14.

“We’re proud of these outstanding scholars and applaud their achievements,” said Nat B. Frazer, CNR dean.

 

Recipients of the college’s Quinney Scholarship are Hailey Crozier, Richard Gardner, Natalie Gibson, Ashley Kartchner, Quinn G. Larson, Eric Milman, Crystal Brooke Overby, Benjamin Poulson, Kim Quinn, Kelly Sivy, Elaine Taylor, Bonnie Varga and Ashley Walker.

 

Crozier also received the George A. Judah Scholarship, the Laurence A. Stoddart Scholarship and the Victor A. & Beatrice E. Stokes Scholarship. Sivy was also awarded the Mary Lu Roskelley Scholarship and Gibson received the Becraft Scholarship.

 

Sivy and Lisa Wilgar received the CNR Alumni Scholarship.

 

Recipients of the Seely Hinckley Scholarship are Gary Howes, Jamin Johanson, Erik Kulick and Jacob Stoller. Stoller also received the Future Fisheries Scholarship and Johanson was awarded the John & Karen Malechek Scholarship.

 

Kulick and Alan Crookston were awarded the Geography Faculty for Academic Excellence Scholarship. Crookston also received the Alsop Athenaeum Award and the Edwin L. Peterson Scholarship.

 

Katie Santini received the Mark R. Boyer Scholarship. Nathan Cook was awarded the Thad & Jenny Box Scholarship and the George H. & Dorothy Kelker Scholarship.

 

The Class of ’50 Scholarship went to Caleb Kauffman and Steven Sumsion. Sumsion also received the Philip J. Urness Scholarship.

 

Andrew Braithwaite and Ashley Walker were awarded the Environment & Society Faculty Scholarship. Braithwaite also received the Paul M. & Neva Dunn Scholarship and the Evelyn Irving Scholarship. 

 

Anamarie Lamb was awarded the J. Whitney and Virginia P. Floyd Scholarship and the Timothy Leary Scholarship. Jenny Christiansen received the George E. Hart Scholarship and the Lenore L. Nielson Scholarship.

 

Corrie Wallace received the Fisheries and Wildlife Emeritus Faculty Scholarship and the William F. Sigler Wildland Sciences Scholarship. William Russell was awarded the Arthur D. Smith Scholarship and the Joseph Barry Bass Scholarship.

 

Makeda Trujillo received the Allen W. & Alice H. Stokes Scholarship and the Jessica Clark Tayon Scholarship. Marc Weston was awarded the William T. “Bill” Helm Scholarship and Neal Tyler received the Institute for Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Scholarship. Preston Mickelson is the recipient of the William G. Kohner Scholarship and Amanda Townsend is the recipient of the Gary Smith Scholarship.

Mark Layton was awarded the T.W. Daniel Scholarship, the Jerry W. McGee Scholarship, the Raymond R. Moore Scholarship and the Paul Bunyan Foresters Scholarship. David Wiegman is the recipient of the Fonnesbeck Scholarship and the Mitchell Scholarship.

 

Dustin Ranglack is the recipient of the Gregory R. Rost Scholarship and the Poe Brothers Scholarship. Shaylan Franc was awarded the Safari Club Scholarship, Nicolas Braithwaite received the William F. Sigler Watershed Sciences Scholarship and Aaron Miller received the Jessop B. Low Scholarship.

 

The College of Natural Resources includes the academic departments of Environment and Society, Watershed Sciences and Wildland Resources. More than 400 undergraduates and more than 150 graduate students are enrolled in degree programs administered by the college.
