College of Agriculture Recognizes Students and Faculty

The College of Agriculture recently held its annual Awards and Honors Program to recognize the achievements of students, faculty and alumni in the college.

John Lawley received the Service to Students and Faculty Award, Travis McNiven received the Scholar of the Year Award, Lyle McNeal received the Advisor of the Year Award and Craig Aston received the Teacher of the Year Award. 

Robert Nielsen, John E. Osguthorpe and Sylvan H. Wittwer received Alumni Association Hall of Honor Awards, Kip Panter received the James LeGrande Shupe Achievement Award, Clell Bagley received the Distinguished Professor Award and Leonard Blackham received the Distinguished Service Award.

These award recipients appreciate and understand production agriculture and are ready to take advantage of new opportunities and directions in the field, said Dean Noelle Cockett.

"Agriculture is not on the decline; rather the face of agriculture is changing," said Cockett. "Earth, conservation, biotechnology, disease cures and community are now at the center of our interest and successes." 

" Agriculture is the science of life," Cockett said.
