Clark England Receives Honorary Life Membership

Clark England, retired director of Human Resources for Utah State University, received Honorary Life Membership in CUPA-HR, the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. In addition to being retired or announcing a retirement, Honorary Life Members must have demonstrated exemplary professional qualities of leadership to CUPA-HR and at the institution. Active leadership and participation at the national, regional and chapter levels is also considered.

 

England's higher education human resources career began in 1977, when he became manager of employee benefits at USU. He became assistant director of Human Resources in 1981 and assumed the duties of director in 1983, a position he held until his retirement in December 2004. He also taught a human resources management course at USU from more than 25 years.

 

His CUPA-HR track record is impressive. Over the course of 30 years, England attended 24 national conferences and 24 regional conferences, presented at countless association conferences and seminars and served as a key figure in the initial strategic planning work of the association in the early 1990s. He also served on the CUPA-HR membership advisory board as chair elect, chair and past chair of the Northwest Region board. At the national level he served as president-elect, president, past president and treasurer on the national board. He is currently a member of the Past President's Assembly. In 1997 he received the association's highest honor, the Donald E. Dickason Award.
