A spirited reception was held to honor students who add their own spirit and energy to Utah State University’s events, especially athletic events. President Stan Albrecht and First Lady Joyce Albrecht welcomed members of the USU Pep Band, cheer squad, Aggiettes and Big Blue to the President’s Home.
Nearly 70 students attended, representing the student groups involved.
“This group makes me exceptionally proud,” President Albrecht said. “I can’t walk out of an arena without someone complimenting me on our students’ energy performances. The music, the spirit and energy add to all our events, whether in the Smith Spectrum, Romney Stadium or elsewhere. You are excellent ambassadors and represent the university well.”
A number of other university officials and supporters joined the Albrechts in recognizing the students, including Vice President for Student Services Juan Franco, Elisa Franco, Athletics Director Randy Spetman, Becky Spetman and Women’s Basketball Head Coach Raegan Scott-Pebley. Tom Hale represented athletics and the Big Blue organization.
Todd Fallis, faculty director of the Pep Band, and Linda Zimmermann, cheer squad and Aggiette advisor, were also on hand for the reception.
“The dedication and devotion of these student groups deserves attention,” Albrecht said. “The early mornings and late nights add up quickly, but the results make Utah State University an exciting place to be. Thank you.”
