Chase Fine Arts Center Atrium named for Dell Loy and Lynnette Hansen

Utah State University’s Chase Fine Arts Center Atrium, the addition to the building off the central courtyard, was named the Hansen Atrium in recognition of Dell Loy and Lynnette Hansen and their support of the Caine College (CCA) of the Arts at USU.

The Hansen Atrium is the newest addition to the Fine Arts complex. Its interior was designed by Darrin Brooks, interior design faculty. Since its opening, it has served as the entrance to the Kent Concert Hall and as a hub for the departments housed within the Chase Fine Arts Center.

The Hansens also received the Champion of the Arts Award at the CCA Awards Celebration and Donor Recognition ceremony held April 1. The award is presented in recognition of individuals who play an important role in furthering the mission of the college.

Dell Loy and Lynnette are both Aggie graduates. In 2002, the Hansen Scholars Support Foundation was created to ease the financial burden for hundreds of students across the university who might not otherwise be able to afford completing their education.

“The performing arts have had a profound influence on my life,” Hansen Scholar and CCA student Colter Christensen said. “My heart is full of gratitude for the gracious support the Hansens granted me to better share the blessings of inspirational art with others.”

More than 60 scholarships a year allow students to stay in school and participate in transformational experiences such as summer education opportunities and study abroad programs that have changed their lives and enriched their learning experiences.

“Dell Loy and Lynnette are playing an important role in developing an intellectual foundation for our students that will help them deal with the extraordinary challenges they face,” Craig Jessop, dean of the CCA, said. “You have my sincere and deepest thanks and my humble gratitude for making such a positive difference in the lives of so many of our students.”

The Hansens’ passion comes from seeing how important the students developing lives in the arts are and the impact their gifts make.

“I see the challenge that students face from student debt and the worry that a college education brings,” Dell Loy said. “All I could think of as I looked at these remarkable students is couldn’t we do more?”

The Caine College of the Arts and Dean Jessop thanked the Hansens for their support.
