Celebrate the Holiday Season with the CCA at 'Joyful & Triumphant'

Utah State University’s Department of Music presents its annual holiday concert “Joyful and Triumphant” Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Kent Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center on the USU Logan campus.

The concert features Caine College of the Arts’ students from the USU Chorale, Chamber Singers, Women’s Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, Guitar Ensembles, Choral Scholars, Campbell-Holtkamp Organ, String Quartet and Caine Brass Quintet.

“‘Joyful and Triumphant’ is a delightful collage concert performed with no applause so the listeners journey from one piece to another is a mesmerizing holiday performance,” said Cory Evans, director of the choral program at USU. “The ensembles are positioned throughout the Kent Concert Hall. This format creates an electric atmosphere that transfixes the audience from first song to last.”

The concert features a robust and folksy arrangement of the Somerset Wassail and the music department’s own version of the three tenors singing O Holy Night, said Evans.

“There will be a collaboration with the jazz orchestra and chamber singers performing the Charlie Brown Christmas favorite, ‘Christmas Time is Here,’ said Evans. “Come start the holiday season with some of the most beautiful vocal and instrumental music you will ever hear.”

Tickets for the holiday concert are $10 adults, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with ID. For more information or tickets, visit the CCA Box Office in room L101 of the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s campus, call 435-797-8022 or see the college’s Production Services website.
