Celebrate the Concerto Competition Winners with the USU Symphony Orchestra
Top students talents are featured in the 2015 Concert Evening at Utah State University Wednesday, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m., Kent Concert Hall, Chase Fine Arts Center.
The Utah State University Symphony Orchestra celebrates the winners of the music department’s annual student competition in “Concerto Evening” Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the Kent Concert Hall, located in the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU’s Logan campus.
The concert highlights five students who won the highly competitive concerto competition held in December 2014. Students from all disciplines in the department perform before a panel of judges. The top students are selected to perform in concert with the USU Symphony Orchestra.
This year’s winners are Carly Ewell (harp), Karalyn Lewis (flute), Josiah Cordes (cello), Taylor Packer (piano) and Josh Musselman (piano).
Music by Saint-Saëns, Chopin, Debussy and more will be performed.
“For this concert, we celebrate the talent and accomplishments of our winners,” said Sergio Bernal, conductor of the symphony and associate professor in the Caine College of the Arts. “These soloists represent the wonderful teaching provided by the instructors at USU, and the Symphony Orchestra is excited to accompany them.”
