Celebrate Halloween with a Howl

Utah's biggest Halloween party, the Howl, happens Saturday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. in Utah State University's Taggart Student Center in Logan.

 

USU plans to regulate ticket sales this year as a way to regulate attendance at the party to improve the activity for USU students.

 

Tickets for the Howl will no longer be available at the door. Only USU students will be able to purchase Howl tickets in advance. USU students will be able to purchase two tickets at the student rate of $10 each and three tickets at $20 each for friends who do not attend the university.

 

"If you are a Utah State student, it is time to call and invite your friends to the Howl and make arrangements to buy tickets for them," said Keri Mecham, associate director of student involvement.

 

The ticket office in the Taggart Student Center will be open for ticket sales 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, through Friday, Oct. 28. Tickets can also be purchased on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

 

"It is usually the random people who show up and don't have a link to Utah State who cause problems," said Laurel Evans, USU's programming vice president. "This year we are inviting USU students and their friends. If a friend at Utah State doesn't buy you a ticket, you don't get in."

 

"With the decision to not sell tickets at the door, you won't have to wait in long lines to get in and can spend more of your time having fun and enjoying the activities at the party," said Lisa Watkins, ASUSU activities chair.

 

The Howl has been a tradition for more than 25 years at Utah State. The Howl is organized by students, and ticket proceeds go toward providing additional student activities.

 

"We hope that the upperclassmen, as well as the new Utah State students, will come and participate in the Howl this year and enjoy the new atmosphere we are creating," said Evans.
