Catch Wind of This Faculty Recital — You Can't Beat It

The wind and percussion faculty from Utah State University’s Department of Music are featured in a faculty recital Monday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 100 N. 100 East, in Logan. The recital is free and open to the public.

“This is the first time in my tenure that we have offered a combined recital with virtually the entire wind and percussion faculty,” Fallis said.

 

Faculty performers include Fallis on trombone, Jon Gudmundson on saxophone, Dennis Griffin on percussion, Nicholas Morrison on clarinet, Leslie Timmons on flute and Lynn Jemison Keisker on piano.

 

Each faculty member will perform two pieces, some solo and some in combination, Fallis said. Morrison, Jemison-Keisker and Timmons will perform as a trio and Morrison and Timmons will perform as their duo, Airfare. Fallis, Griffin and Gudmundson will each perform solo pieces.

 

“It will be a completely varied evening of wind and percussion music that should prove to be very fulfilling musically,” Fallis said. “St. John’s has been completely rebuilt and has become a fabulous space for performing. There is plenty of room for the performers, lots of seats for the audience and the acoustics are fantastic. If you haven’t been to see the newly renovated church yet, here is your chance.”

 

Selections to be performed include pieces by Jean Francaix, Ewazen, Dorsey, Gould and Gillingham, among others, Fallis concluded.
