C. J. Tanner is Dining Services' October Employee of the Month

C.J. Tanner is congratulated by Alan Andersen, Dining Service's executive director. Tanner received a plaque and a $50 Aggie Express Gift Card.

Each month Utah State University’s Dining Services focuses on one of its seven core values and selects an hourly employee who exemplifies the month’s core value. For October, Dining Services highlighted Passion – “We enjoy what we do and it shows. We have a personal vision of what we are accomplishing as an organization and love to make things happen.”

C.J. Tanner was named the October Employee of the Month. Tanner, a student employee at the Junction was first selected by his peers, then by Junction management and finally by Dining Services Executive Director Alan J. Andersen.

“C.J. has by far exceeded my expectation for passion from an employee,” Andersen said. “He was a very loyal customer a year before being hired — he knew all the employees’ names when he was a customer and would chat with other customers if they were sitting alone while eating.”

Those presenting the award said C.J. has kept those qualities as an employee. He works two shifts on the pasta line each week and helps cover other shifts as needed. He’s been overheard tell the student customers that his work at the Junction is the most rewarding job he’s ever had and if they ever get the chance to work at the Junction, they “totally should.”

“C.J. has been known to send texts to his coworkers just to say hi and make sure they are having a great day,” a nominator wrote. “He can be seen wearing a fedora every day to work, showing up on time with a smile on his face, ready to make somebody’s day.

“C.J. is extremely enthusiastic … he has passion for the customers and for his job.”

As October Dining Services’ Employee of the Month, Tanner received a plaque and a $50 Aggie Express Gift Card, presented by Andersen.
