Barn Tour: Idaho Edition

There are significant differences between historic barns in Utah and Idaho, say researchers at USU’s Mountain West Center for Regional Studies. The Idaho counties, settled later, have a variety of barn types that are distinct from those in Utah and are the focus of a new book produced by the center in partnership with the Bear River Heritage Area.

For more information contact Elaine Thatcher, program director, Mountain West Center for Regional Studies, College of HASS, (435) 797-0299. Folklorist Lisa Duskin-Goede oversaw the work in Bear Lake, Caribou, Franklin and Oneida counties in Idaho. The Southeastern Barn Guide can be purchase by contacting the Bear River Association of Governments, 170 North Main, Logan, UT 84321. The project is funded by a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.
