Author Trudier Harris to Give Fife Folklore Honor Lecture at USU

Professor Trudier Harris will present this year’s Fife Folklore Honor Lecture at Utah State University.

Harris will present “Beautiful Language, Ugly Actions: Toni Morrison’s ‘The Bluest Eye,’” Thursday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at the Haight Alumni Center on the USU campus. The event is free and all are invited.

 

Harris is a professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and is a distinguished scholar in both folklore and literary studies. She is the author of eight books and has also co-edited eight books. She is the recipient of numerous fellowships and awards, including the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors’ Award for Excellence in teaching.

 

Each year, USU invites a folklorist who has made outstanding contributions to the field of folklore to give the Fife Honor Lecture. The lecture is sponsored by USU’s Folklore Program, the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences and the department of English.
