Associate Vice Provost, Executive Director Named for USU Distance Education

Robert Wagner has been named associate vice provost and executive director of Regional Campuses and Distance Education at Utah State University.

Wagner started with RCDE as assistant vice provost in 2007 and has continued to move up within the RCDE system. He was recently appointed associate vice provost and executive director of distance education. Prior to coming to Logan, Wagner earned his doctorate in political science from the University of Albany. While attending, he also served as special assistant to the president, aiding in higher education and economic development and legislative agendas.

 

“Distance education plays a key role in USU's mission and allows students throughout Utah to access high-quality degree programs from a research university,” said Ronda Menlove, vice provost for Regional Campuses and Distance Education. “Robert’s ability to work collaboratively with all university entities to implement new online and Internet-based videoconference courses and programs is a definite asset.”

 

Wagner is positive about being involved in the future of distance education at Utah State.

 

“My goal is to help propel Utah State University toward innovative distance education opportunities and accomplishments,” Wagner said. “By working with academic departments to deliver their programs through distance education, we are spreading the benefits of a Utah State University degree across the state and beyond.”

Wagner earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and has a master of public administration from the University of Utah. He has also published multiple works, one of which was co-authored by former USU President Kermit L. Hall.
