Annual String Chamber Music Recital

The Utah State University String Program presents its annual fall recital Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Caine Performance Hall.

“The USU String Chamber Music Recital showcases the students of the USU string program,” said Brad Ottesen, assistant professor in the Caine College of the Arts and violist in the Fry Street Quartet. “Every semester, students form new chamber music projects and prepare their repertoire under the guidance of the Fry Street Quartet.”

According to Ottesen, additional artistic input comes through master classes by world-class guest artists of the Chamber Music Society of Logan. All students in the string program will perform, showcasing the hours of preparation dedicated to this performance.

Audience members will hear a variety of selections from the canon of western music. Selections will include classical works from Beethoven, Mozart and Mendelssohn, as well as romantic selections by Bedrich Smetana and Ernst von Dohnanyi.

“Logan has such a passionate audience for chamber music,” Ottesen said. “So we are especially pleased to present this concert, and the students are excited to take their turn on stage.”

Tickets for the String Chamber Music recital are $10 general admission, $8 seniors and youth, $5 USU faculty and staff and free for USU students with valid ID.
