Air Force Band Heads to Logan
The Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are presented in concert at USU by the Caine College of the Arts. The afternoon concert is Sunday, March 1, 3 p.m. at the Kent Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center.
Utah State University’s Caine College of the Arts presents the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants Sunday, March 1, at 3 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall of the Chase Fine Arts Center on the USU Logan campus.
The concert is free and open to the public, but requires tickets that are available in advance.
The concert is a reunion, of sorts, with two former U.S. Air Force band commanders who are now on the faculty at the CCA.
Craig Jessop, dean of the CCA, was a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Air Force music programs, where he served as director of the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants in Washington, D.C., from 1980-87. Jessop was also commander and conductor of the Band of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe in Ramstein, Germany, from 1987-91 and commander and conductor of the Air Combat Command Heartland of America Band from 1991-95.
James Bankhead, head of the Department of Music in the CCA, retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Air Force where he served as commander and conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington from 1985-91 while subsequently serving as chief of bands and music for the Air Force while stationed at the Pentagon.
The U.S. Air Force Band, based at joint base Anacostia-Bolling in D.C., is the premier musical organization of the United States Air Force.
Tickets for the performance can be picked up at the CCA Box Office in the Chase Fine Arts Center, the CCA Dean’s Office, USU’s Taggart Student Center ticket office or at the Herald Journal.
