Aggies Hoops to Host Second Exhibition Contest on Friday Night

Cal State Monterey Bay at Utah State Game Notes

• Utah State men's basketball will begin its 111th season in 2015-16 and host its second exhibition game of the year Friday [Nov. 6], facing Cal State Monterey Bay at 7 p.m. USU is 1,536-1,059 (.592) in 2,595 games played over that span.

• Utah State has won 16 exhibition games in a row with its last exhibition loss coming on Oct. 11, 2007, to EA Sports, 86-81. The Aggies opened their exhibition slate with an 87-48 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State last Saturday.

• Utah State has never faced Cal State Monterey Bay, but has an overall record of 204-92 against teams from the Cal State system.

• Utah State will enter its third season in the Mountain West, compiling an 11-7 conference mark last season in the Aggie' sophomore campaign. The 11 wins were the most ever for a second-year school in the Mountain West.

• Utah State ended the 2014-15 season in the top-20 nationally in five statistics: eighth in both defensive 3-point field goal percentage (.297) and fewest turnovers (323), 14th in 3-point field goal percentage (.394), 17th in assist/turnover ratio (1.38) and 18th in turnovers per game (10.4).

• Sophomore forward David Collette is the second-most efficient returning post player in the NCAA, shooting 59.1 percent last year. Collette is only behind Gonzaga's Domantas Sabonis who shot 66.8 percent from the floor last season.

• Utah State returns all five starters from a team that finished 18-13 overall and 11-7 in the Mountain West last season. Among the returners are all three of the Aggies' postseason honorees, including junior wing Jalen Moore (second team), sophomore forward David Collette (third team) and senior guard Chris Smith (honorable mention).
