Aggie Women Continue WNIT Climb at BYU Saturday at 3 p.m. MT
After making making history with its first National Invitation Tournament win over Arizona Thursday [March 17, 2011], the Utah State [University] women's basketball team will take on Brigham Young University Saturday [March 19] in Provo, Utah, at 3 p.m.
USU defeated Arizona, 103-95, Thursday for the first USU win in a post season game since the AIAW Championship in 1977. The Aggies’ 103 points were the most points scored by USU since a 96-39 win against Southern Idaho in 1984. Utah State set a third record with the win on Thursday as it improved to 18-14 on the season which is a school record for most wins in a season since the 1973 team finished with 17 wins.
The Cougars lead the all-time series 28-3 over the Aggies. USU played at BYU early in the season and fell 84-52 Nov. 23. The Aggies were a much different team in the beginning of the season as they have developed and progressed throughout the rest of the year. The last time the Aggies defeated the Cougars was Dec. 7, 1978, when USU handed BYU an 80-72 loss in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
