Acclaimed Jazz Guitarist Performs at USU

Nationally acclaimed guitarist Craig Wagner performs at Utah State University as a guest of the guitar program in the Department of Music Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at USU’s Performance Hall.

“We are honored to host one of the most multitalented guitarists across the nation today,” said Corey Christiansen, assistant professor of music at USU’s Caine College of the Arts.

Wagner performs a number of musical styles and has played at festivals such as Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, the New Orleans Jazz Festival and HullabaLOU, said Christiansen.

“In addition to his jazz talents, Craig’s classical guitar skills are world-class,” Christiansen said.

As a guest performer, Wagner has performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Windsor Philharmonic Orchestra. His work has also been featured in Guitar Player, Guitar One, Acoustic Guitar and Just Jazz Guitar.

Additionally, Wagner has been showcased as a solo performer at the Kentucky Arts Council’s Master Musicians Festival and is currently a faculty member at the University of Louisville.

The Craig Wagner Concert is presented by the Department of Music.

Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 for all students and can be purchased at the Caine College of the Arts Box Office in room 139-B of the Chase Fine Arts Center, online or call 435-797-8022.
