A Salt Lake City Celebration

Alumni, friends and neighbors of Utah State University celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 15, to announce the university’s official arrival and new office in the Wells Fargo Center on Salt Lake City’s Main Street.

More than 1,000 people came to wish Utah State well and enjoy a cup of Famous Aggie Ice Cream at a noon ice cream party where Utah’s KUTV 2 news team shot live footage from the event.

At a press conference at 4 p.m., President Kermit L. Hall showed off the new digs to a crowd that grew to standing room only. After a short drumroll and ribbon cutting, the new office was unveiled to cheers from Aggies in attendance including Lt. Gov. Gayle McKeachnie, head of the Utah State Board of Trustees; Jonathan Bullen, co-owner of the Wells Fargo Building and chair of the Utah State Foundation; Sharon Larkin, Salt Lake Aggie Alumni Chapter President and Randy Watts, Utah State Alumni President.

Jill Remington Love, Salt Lake Council chair and Clark Ivory from the Salt Lake Chamber also attended and spoke to the crowd. Guests dressed in their best that evening at a reception on the twenty-third floor of the Wells Fargo Center.

Alumni and friends of Utah State were surrounded by a stunning view of Salt Lake as they had a chance to visit the new office and re-connect with each other and the university.

Guests moved into another beautifully decorated room for a program that began with Jonathan Bullen who, as a sponsor of the event, thanked additional sponsors and introduced President Hall who spoke about the transformation and arrival of Utah State. The Fry Street Quartet also preformed for the audience. Following the event, guests received a Utah State gift from O.C. Tanner.
