A Portion of Champ Drive Closed for Old Main Cupola Installation

A portion of Champ Drive will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 28, to facilitate the installation of new cupolas on the roof of Old Main’s north wing as part of its reroofing project. The roadway will be closed from approximately Old Main’s south entrance to the crosswalk at its north entrance. Traffic will be closed in both directions.
The road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A large crane is required to lift the cupolas into place and will block the roadway.
Those planning the work hope that the crane will not be needed throughout the day. If the work is completed earlier, the roadway will open sooner than 4 p.m. However, personnel and visitors should be prepared for Champ Drive to be closed all day.
