A-Day Activities Honored by Blue Light, More Service Opportunities Available

The Utah State University blue light atop Old Main will light the night sky Friday, April 15, to honor A-Day.

 

The Utah State Student Alumni Association (SAA) hosts A-Day every year, and studentbody members were invited to participate in several service projects and activities planned throughout the week. Proceeds earned during the week's activities benefit the March of Dimes and the Cache County American Red Cross.

 

Students will celebrate A-Day on the Quad Friday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Booths featuring games, crafts and food will be on hand, as well as live entertainment. The A-Day Dance, with entertainment provided by live bands and DJ Charlie Jarvis, begins at 8:30 p.m. in the TSC Sunburst Lounge. Tickets are available at the door and are $3, or $2 with a canned food item. The week ends with another Aggie tradition — at midnight sweethearts become "True Aggies" by kissing on the concrete block A.

 

The Aggie Blue Pride Light atop Old Main lights the Cache Valley night sky as a symbol of Aggie tradition, heritage and pride. The Utah State Student Alumni Association and those students participating in A-Day service projects are a part of the heritage that contributes to the quality of Utah State.

 

 

"A Day of Sharing," a project created by organizations at Utah State University and throughout the community, takes place Saturday, April 16.

 

Volunteers will participate in various service projects at Willow Park and throughout the community. The event gives volunteers a chance to become active in their community and to meet people from various service organizations throughout Logan.

 

Those who wish to participate should meet at Willow Park April 16 at 10 a.m. to kick off the event with Logan Mayor Doug Thompson and the city council. Volunteers will be directed to projects in need of assistance. Groups in need of volunteers to complete projects, or those who seek further information, should contact Becky Nudd by email or Brian Francom.
