25 Extension Faculty Receive One-Time Grants

Extension faculty collageJack Payne, vice president and dean for University Extension, announced that 25 Extension faculty have received one-time grants.

Forty-eight proposals were submitted and 25 were funded. The $200,000 of one-time money was accumulated as a result of Extension's conservative approach to refilling positions based on pending expected budget reductions from the legislature. This money will be reinvested in the people who have risen to new levels of productivity in the face of reduced personnel and increased workloads, vice president Payne said.

The projects were judged on their relevance to the needs of client groups and the citizens of Utah, and how well they reflected the critical issues facing our communities and public. Individual awards were capped at $5,000, and team (three or more members) awards were capped at $10,000.
