2005 Diversity Awards to be Presented

President Stan Albrecht will honor the recipients of Utah State University's 12th annual Diversity Awards. The ceremony takes place Tuesday, Nov. 1, and begins at 9 a.m. in the Eccles Conference Center Auditorium. The ceremony is free and open to all.
 
Keynote speaker is Virginia Valian, distinguished professor of psychology and linguistics at Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). The title of her keynote address is "Why So Slow? The Advancement of Women."
 
President Albrecht will present the 2005 Diversity Awards to five individuals. Those honored include Charles W. Gay, associate vice president for University Extension and associate director for Cooperative Education (administrator award); Martha Whitaker, associate professor, elementary education department (faculty award); Jimmie Grutzmacher, human resources specialist, USU Facilities (staff award); Rebecca Nudd, bachelor of arts recipient, Liberal Arts and Sciences (student award); and Cameron Cuch, Ute Tribe education director, working with USU's Uintah Basin Campus (community award).
 
The awards are presented by the USU Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity office, in cooperation with the president's office, provost's office and ADVANCE at Utah State University.
