USU’s Mountain West Center for Regional Studies joins other Utah institutions in preparing commemorative materials and activities for 2007’s sesquicentennial of the so-called Utah War. In 1857 the U.S. Army, under the orders of President James Buchanan, asserted federal authority over Mormon settlers in the Utah Territory.
For more information, contact Elaine Thatcher, program director, Mountain West Center for Regional Studies, College of HASS, Utah State University, 435-797-0299.
