About This Degree
The Master of Arts in Motion Design at Utah State University provides advanced training in 2D and 3D motion methodologies, digital media theory, and emerging technologies such as AI and augmented/virtual reality.
This three-semester, 30-credit program is designed for students with a strong foundation in graphic design and for professionals seeking to expand their motion-related abilities and professional competencies.
With only ten openings each year, the program offers individualized attention and access to state-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated studio space, 5K monitors, high-capacity computers, and VR technology. Graduates will be prepared to excel in a rapidly growing, high-demand field at the intersection of design and technology.

Admission Requirements
Successful applicants must exhibit academic excellence along with a portfolio that displays a strong understanding of graphic design and typography.
A BFA or equivalent in a design related field is required. GPA in design courses during the last two years of undergraduate work must be at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale.
A digital portfolio of recent work must be included in the application for consideration. Previous experience in motion design is not required.
