About This Minor
The Health Education Teaching Minor at Utah State University prepares students to teach health education in K–12 school settings. This program includes the essential coursework and practicum experiences required to apply for the Health Education endorsement through the Utah State Board of Education (USBE).
Students must either hold or be working toward a valid Utah teaching license to be eligible for the USBE endorsement. The minor is an excellent option for students in teacher preparation programs who want to enhance their credentials and expand their teaching opportunities.
Important Note: Completion of the program’s academic requirements does not guarantee a recommendation for the USBE endorsement. A formal recommendation will be made only when the following criteria are met:
-
Successful completion of all required coursework (C or better) and Student Teaching Education Program (STEP) requirements
-
Possession of a current and valid Utah teaching license
-
Submission of all required forms and applicable fees
This minor cannot be used alone for teaching licensure unless the student has a teaching major. For more information, please contact the Academic Advisors in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science.
